The Ukori Lijol lineage, known traditionally as Ukorl Bekotebe, stands as one of the respected family branches within the Bassari (Bassar) people. As with all Bassari clans, names carry ancestral weight, birth order, and cultural responsibility. They do not simply identify a person, they record heritage, honor mothers, and preserve the family line.

These names are used strictly according to birth order within the Ukori Lijol family. Only after all traditional names for each gender have been used may a mother give her child additional formalized or optional names of her choice.
